one minute monologues
Your first audition involves one minute monologues but don’t let that make you a nervous wreck in any way. The first step
is to feel positive as well as confident about yourself. To ensure that you are definitely all set to rock and roll, you should take deep breaths
and try to be in the right frame of mind. It would also be a good idea for you to totally relax so that there is not even a vestige of tension
when you are about to start off with your one minute dialogues.
To be more relaxed, it is good to reach the venue of the audition at least fifteen minutes earlier than scheduled. That way, you wont get
worked up in case you get caught up in an unexpected traffic jam or any other unexpected happenings. The best thing would be refresh your mind
with the lines, the treatment of the one minute dialogues and then just get yourself a nice, cozy corner to sit in. You must be relaxed so don’t
be restless and make others around you notice that you are fidgeting with nervousness. It is also good to just keep to yourself and avoid too
much of socializing because that may take you away from the performance.
When it’s your turn, just make a confident entrance because you would be judged by your audience from the very moment that you enter the
performance area. Look and smile directly at your auditioning people so that they understand your confidence but don’t start a conversation with
them unless you are asked to. It is always good to explain crisply what the one minute monologues are pertaining to and name the character that
you are playing as well. Give a moment’s pause and then start your performance.
After your performance is finished, remember to smile as though you want to let them know that you have finished and it’s just a way to thank
them for listening to you. If you are asked questions, it would be good to answer cheerfully so that they get a clear idea about the way you do
work as a person and as a potential actor. Just be cool and confident about the one minute dialogues. Remember, you are on the right track so be
confident about the dialogues.
