acting monologues online

When a person speaks out the part of a character or role that is assigned to him so that the thoughts, emotions and feelings of the said character are reproduced in words to an audience, we can safely call it as a monlogue. Acting monologues online is the same thing but when we talk of directing, its much different because it involves other components that are not similar to the concept of acting monologues online. Let’s understand what tips you should try to follow when you have made up your mind to choose a monologue online.

A good tip is to ensure that the monologue is carefully plucked from a script that you are already familiar with. This way, your understanding of the overall story plot, central theme and main characters including your own would be more comprehensive. To start with for your audition preparation, the best bet would be to select a monologue that is crisp and short. Ideally, your character should be one that you can relate to because that would definitely ensure that your heart would be in whatever you are saying.

The age range is equally important to consider. This is an aspect that you shouldn’t overlook. If your role is that of a bubbly teenager, your voice should have that zing factor as part of it. At the same time, your dialogue may be of a severe, bitter older woman. In such a case, your voice should be somber, carefully gloomy and cultivated to suit the character’s way of speaking. For example, lets assume that your monologue reads like this: “I cant live without your love.” The character is obviously a young woman in love. But if it reads like this, “The dearth of good men springs from the evil around us.” Then it maybe that the woman is older and more mature in character so your treatment of acting monologues online should be varied based on age and nature of the words as well.

In a serious movie called Dying Light, Jenny is a bright girl who faces death with cheer rather than tears. Here is an imaginary dialogue: “ Death…sounds like sharp laser, no big deal. But its tough to get a cool guy to take you for your prom if you are dying.” Imagine how you would say these words as Jenny. Would you sound unhappy? Would you sound tearful yet hopeful? Think about it and practice. Good luck!
